SOLAT
OBLIGATORY FOR SICK PERSON

FAEZ: It is mandatory for a sick person to pray every Solat at its appointed time, and to perform every act of it according to his ability. If it proves difficult for him to pray each Solat on time, he can join Zuhur with Asar, and Magrib with Isyak together by delaying the first or offering the second earlier, whatever is easier for him. All the solat mentioned earlier should be performed in the usual 4 rakaat, except for Magrib with 3 rakaat as normal. As for Fajar, it must be prayed at its regular time, without joining it with any other solat.

TEGUH: It is obligatory for the sick person to pray standing, even if he has to lean, or prop himself against a wall or on a crutch. If he cannot stand, he should pray sitting. Sitting in his bed, on a chair or sit on a clean floor.

AKHTAR: If he cannot sit, he should lie on his side, facing the Qiblat. It is better if he lies on his right side. If the person is bed-ridden at home, it is advisable to position his bed in such a way facing the Qiblat. We need not have reposition it at every praying session. However if he cannot manage to face the Qiblat, especially if he is warded in a hospital, he should face wherever direction he is facing, and he solat is valid and does not have to repeat it later.

TEGUH: It is obligatory for the sick person to perform Rukuk (bowing) and Sujud (prostration) in his solat. If he able to perform Rukuk but not Sujud, he should perform Rukuk normally but substitute a gesture with his head for the Sujud, or vice versa. If he is unable to perform both actions, then he should make gesture of Rukuk and Sujud with his head.

MULIA: If he cannot move his head, he should make the signal for Rukuk and Sujud with his eyes, lowering his eyelids slightly for Rukuk, and more so for Sujud. If he still unable to geature with his head nor with his eyes, then he should pray in his heart, saying AllahuAkbar and reciting, and making an intention in his heart for Rukuk and Sujud and standing and sitting.

FAEZ: If the sick person travels for medical treatment to another country or city (distance at least about 90 kilometers) , he may shorten all his 4 rakaat solat to 2 rakaat, except for Fajar(maintain 2 rakaat) and Magrib (as normal 3 rakaat).
