NABI KENABIAN

PROPHETHOOD

TEGUH: Prophethood is not unknown to religions such as Judaism and Christianity. In Islam we believe in all the Prophets (estimated to be 313 persons so called Rasul) who preach the message from Allah, and another 124,000 general Prophets (so called Nabi). Actually only Allah knows the exact number. We do not know for sure.

AKHTAR: Allah created man for a noble purpose: to worship Him and lead a virtuous life based on His teachings and guidance. How man would know his role and the purpose of his existence unless he received clear and practical instructions of what Allah wants him to do. Here comes the need for prophethood.

TEGUH: How were the Prophets chosen?

MULIA: Prophethood is Allah’s blessing and favour that He may bestow on whom He wills. Only men (gender) were chosen to be Prophets, ladies must not grumble.

FAEZ: However there were several features of a prophet may be recognised. Firstly, he is the best in his community morally and intellectually. This is necessary because a Prophet’s life serves as a model for his followers. However he might perpetuate some minor mistakes which are usually corrected by revelation.

AKHTAR: Secondly, he is supported by miracles to prove that he is not imposter. Those miracles are granted by the power and permission of Allah. Usually these miracles were in the field in which the community was excelled during that time. By having these miracles, the Prophets were recognised as superiors.

AKHTAR: In Judaism, Prophet Moses’s contemporaries were excellent in magic. So his major miracle was to defeat the best magicians of Egypt of his days.
TEGUH: In Christianity, Prophet Jesus’s contemporaries were recognised as skilful physicians. Therefore, his miracles are to raise the dead and cure the incurable diseases.

MULIA: In Islam, the Arabs the contemporaries of the Prophet Muhammad (saw), were known for their eloquence and magnificent poetry. So, Prophet Muhammad’s major miracle was the Quran, the equivalent of which the whole legion of the Arab poets and orators could not produce.

FAEZ: All pervious miracles (Prophets Moses and Jesus etc) prior to the Quran, were limited by time and place. There were shown to specific people at a specific time. Not so, in the miracle of Quran. The Quran is a universal and everlasting miracle. It meant for past, present and future generations.

AKHTAR: The Quran describes about the existence of the first human being in this universe i.e. Prophet Adam and history of so many Prophets before the Prophet Muhammad (saw). For example Prophet Noah the man of the Ark , Prophet Abraham, and Prophet Moses etc.

TEGUH: For the present generation, the Quran among others describes the evolution of the embryo inside the uterus so accurately as we find it in modern science. The Quran was established more than 1,400 years ago but the evolution of the embryo was discovered 1300 years later.

MULIA: There are numerous scientific truths contained in the Quran have yet to be discovered by our scientists especially concerning the planets. Guidance cannot be obtained neither from science nor from mystic experience. The former is too materialistic and too limited; the latter is too subjective and frequently too misleading. The only authentic source of information about the supernatural world is revelation from Allah.

FAEZ: We have no way of knowing what will happen to us after death. Is there any life after death? Is there any reward or punishment for our deeds in this life? There are many more questions about Allah, angles, jinns, paradise, hell etc cannot be answered without direct revelation from the Creator and Knower of the unseen i.e. Allah. Those answers from Allah are authentic and must be brought by individuals whom we trust and respect i.e Prophets.

MULIA: The Muslims belief in all the Prophets of Allah. However the Quranic account of Prophet Jesus emphatically rejects the concept of his “Divinity” and “Divine Sonship”. The Quran is clear that the birth of Prophet Jesus without a father, so did Prophet Adam who was created by Allah without a father and mother. This statement can be referred to the Quran surah 3 ayat 59.

AKHTAR: Prophet Jesus was neither killed nor crucified by the Jews, he was raised-up by Allah. Prophet Jesus will come back to this world and Allah-abiding Christians and Jews will believe in him before he dies.

MULIA: Quran is the book of guidance for the whole humanity for all times, and mentions Prophet Muhammad (saw) as the last prophet of Allah.
