PERHUBUNGAN ISLAM SESAMA BUKAN ISLAM

RELATIONSHIP OF MUSLIMS WITH
NON-MUSLIMS

AKHTAR: It is the Muslim’s duty to ensure justice and fairness in dealing with non-Muslims who neither fight Muslims on religious grounds nor hostile by driving them out of their homes, as statement made by Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala in the Quran 60:8-9.

MULIA: Islam does not prohibit Muslims to be kind and generous to peoples of other religions, even if they are idolators and polytheists.

TEGUH: Islam looks upon the people of the Book, that is Jews and Christians, with special regard by saying in the Quran : “O People of the Book” or “O You who have been given the Book”, indicating that they were originally people of a revealed religion. These three religions, all having in common the principles of the one true religion sent by Allah through His prophets (peace be on them all).

FAEZ: Muslim are required to believe in all the Books revealed by Allah and in all the prophets sent by Him, otherwise they are not Believers. One true religion, that is Islam, is the same religion which He enjoined on Noah, Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, Jesus and Muhammad.

AKHTAR: Islam permits eating with the people of the Book, sharing the meat they slaughter, and marrying their women.

MULIA: Those who live under the protection of an Islamic government enjoy certain rights and being free to practice their own faiths.

TEGUH: There is no harm done if Muslims seek help from non-Muslims in technical matters which have no connection with the religion. At the same time it is of course extremely desirable that Muslims become self-sufficient in all fields.

FAEZ: Islam respects a human being only because he is human, how much the more then, if he is from the people of the Book? Once a Jews funeral procession passed by the Prophet Muhammad (saw) and he stood up. Thereupon someone remarked negatively. The Prophet (saw) replied “Was he not a soul?”. In Islam every human being has a dignity and a place.
