SOLAT ISTIKHARA :
SEEKING GUIDENCE

If anyone of us intends to do something big which will bring great impact to our life, and is not so sure either to pursue or otherwise, or maybe there are other options to choose, then we can seek guidance from Allah.

We should offer a voluntary two-rakaat prayer, and its performance is like any other ordinary sunat prayer.

This prayer is known as solat Istikhara. It can be performed anytime, but preferably deep into the night.

Istikhara is a prayer in which the praying person appeals to Allah to guide him on the right way regarding a certain situation.

The performance of most voluntary prayers in the middle of night is more meritorious.

Immediately after the prayer, we can perform our doa. It is up to each individual to word their doa. However ones can recite the following phrases:

O Allah! I consult You, for You have all the knowledge, and appeal to You to support me with Your Power, and ask for Your Bounty, for You are able to do things while I am not, and You know while I do not, and You are the Knower of the Unseen.

O Allah! If You know that this matter (name your matter) is good for me both at present and in the future, then fulfil it for me and make it easy for me, and then bestow Your Blessings on me in that matter.

O Allah! If You know that this matter is not good for me, then divert me from it and choose for me what is good whatever it may be, and make me be pleased with it. Ameen!”

InsyAllah our doa will be blessed by the Mighty Lord.
