SOLAT
CONGREGATION

FAEZ: There are certain mosques do not forbid us to tag along our shoes/slippers as we enter these places of worship. However when we perform solat please do not put our shoes on our right or left but keep them in between our feet because on our left or right would be another worshiper. It is better if we could wrap our shoes in a plastic bag.

TEGUH: When entering a mosque, we should pray two rakaat of Tahiyat’ul-Masjid (voluntary but highly demanded) before sitting.

FAEZ: The starting line in a row of worshippers is originated from the middle position or starting from the position immediately behind the imam. The second person who which to join the congregation should position himself on the right side of the first worshiper. The third person will fill up on the left side of the first worshiper, then the fourth on the right side of the second worshiper. So it goes on............... right, left, right,..........

AKHTAR: We must straighten our row and stand closer together. Every one of us should try to put our shoulder to the shoulder of the neighbouring worshiper, and also our foot to the foot of our companions on the left and right. The congregation must not stand in disarray and should not be any vacant spot in between worshippers. Keeping the rows straight (straight as arrows) is part of the perfection of the solat.

MULIA: The learned in religion are entitled to lead the solat. If two persons are equally proficient in the recitation of the Quran, then the eldest should lead the solat.

TEGUH: Prophet Muhammad saw a man praying alone behind the row and he ordered him to repeat the solat.

FEAZ: If something unusual action happens in the solat due to the wrong doing of the imam, then we should say “SubhanAllah” and clapping is for women.

MULIA: The solat in congregation is twenty-seven times superior in degrees to solat performed solo. Do not withhold women from going to mosques, although their homes are better for them. Thus, women should avoid praying in front of men.

FAEZ: A woman’s prayer in her room is better than her prayer in her courtyard, and her prayer in her innermost room is better than her prayer in another room.

TEGUH: The angels invoke blessings on anyone who remain seated in the place where he has performed solat and without breaking his wuduk (ablution), waiting for the next solat.

FAEZ: If you pray at your homes and then you go to the mosque while the imam has not yet performed the prayer, you can pray with him, and it will be a voluntary solat for you.
