SOLAT al-DUHA : SUPEREROGATORY MORNING PRAYER
TEGUH: Paradise is the tremendous reward which Allah has prepared to those who obey Him. The joys of Paradise are far greater than the pleasures of this world, that no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and has never crossed the mind of any human being.
AKHTAR: Some of the hadith quoted that the poor will enter Paradise forty years ahead of the rich, while others said five hundred years. Both years could be right, because the poor are not all alike, neither are the rich.
MULIA: Prophet Muhammad (saw) did not like to put unnecessary burden upon the people and wanted that they should develop religious devotion and piety out of their own accord without any pressure.
FAEZ: Prayer is the highest act of devotion to Allah. Performing solat al-Duha is not obligatory, it is supererogatory and is a symbol of one’s keen devotion to Allah.
TEGUH: The time of Duha prayer is from the time when the sun has risen to a certain height until the sun reaches its meridian. For easy time determination, this is approximately one-in-the-half (1 ½) hour after the time of Subuh prayer until noon. But certain literatures mention we can perform Duha until half an hour (30 minutes), or even ten minutes before Zuhur prayer.
AKHTAR: The number of rakaat starts from minimum two, and up to a maximum of 12 rakaat. Certain scholars cap it up to eight rakaat only. Well! If we could perform two rakaat everyday without fail, in my humble view, that is considered excellent.
MULIA: Duha has nothing to do directly with “murahkan rezeki” as claimed by certain ustaz. Allah knows the truth.
